"Freedom Equine Centre offers my two children a positive and relaxing horse riding session with direction and structure personalized to their needs and individual level. It is amazing for their sensory needs, it enhances their communication and their self esteem. They enjoy the beautiful surroundings and know what to expect from each session.
The friendly, nurturing and professional manner from all the team is what makes the sessions extra special.
Their love for both animals and children is wonderful to see and helps the children to feel special and engage in activities which they may otherwise struggle with.
Each session is unique with riding, leading, trotting, grooming and fab games to help their self, control, recognition and awareness of feelings and emotion. The children get to see all the other amazing animals on the farm and talk about them as they ride around.
Thank you Freedom Equine for being so understanding and patient. April & Benny adore you and your sessions.
Thank you for being so inclusive and most of all for for caring!
Thank you for welcoming us all in to your Equine Family."

"Freedom Equine Centre or 'the farm' as we call it in our family, is very precious to us. We have been part of it ever since it started and have watched the place grow in beauty and success. Some years ago my son Vangelis had lessons as well as learning groundwork. Diagnosed with sensory processing issues and borderline ADHD, the horses were a huge part of helping him understand how to manage his emotions, anxiety, agitation and connection. the horses responded to his emotions and body language without him even touching them. He quickly realised that our emotions provoke a response in others even if we can't see it.
I wish I could use words to explain the bond, connection and healing power of horses. I just can't do it justice but I believe we were created for this connection and Freedom Equine Centre offers this amazing opportunity.
My daughter Areti who is now 8 loves going to 'the farm' for horse riding lessons with Emily and for some animal care after her lesson. She has overcome her fear of ducks, chickens and goats and looks forward to visiting them each time.
What is most important for me as her mum is that she has the opportunity to learn a valuable life skill and to experience the healing power that cannot be seen only felt.
In the past when we tried other riding centres, even those for children with disabilities, we were gravely disappointed. You arrive, get on a horse, do a lesson, get off and leave. there was no conversation about the animal with which you are spending your time. Horses were treated like tools but at 'the farm' they are treated like fellow facilitators and collaborators in a holistic approach to heal, calm, connect at a deep level. children learn to respect, understand, appreciate, care for and CONNECT with the horses. I know of no other place that offers this. You can't bottle this and sell it or pop a pill to do that which only the horses (and other lovely animals) can offer. It must be experienced. the folks working there are handpicked for their character, care, compassion, love for the children and animals, love for what they do. To me, they see it as a calling NOT a job.
You can tell I am passionate about this and I am because I experienced complex and chronic trauma as a child but we happened to live on a farm and the animals, as well as nature, were my saving grace. It was the connection with them that helped me endure neglect, death, abuse and chronic illness. and I want my children to experience the connection only an animal can give.
Freedom is the place to go because everyone is invested in the process in a holistic way. They are invested in the health and wellbeing of their animals as well as that of their 'clients' and the parents/carers. I usually take a book to read and rest for that hour while I watch the ducks and donkeys and find it a therapeutic time for me too. Seriously, I can't rate it enough and feel so incredibly blessed that we live close enough to access such a priceless gift."

"My son loves his sessions at Freedom Equine. Over the past year we have seen his confidence grow in relation to riding but also his ability to listen and take direction. He's a sensory seeker and really loves trotting on Nora, as well as spending time with Emily who takes such an interest in him and he loves their "special chats."

"My son started attending ChAPS events at Freedom equine centre when he was 6 years old, he first rode a pony called Merrylegs.
Although he stifles with peer interaction, he has always had a great bond with animals, which we are keen for him to develop – in the hope that it would improve his awareness of other people’s needs, while allowing him some chill out time.
Dawn and Emily (in fact, all the girls) are great with him. They are patient and accommodating, building his confidence - while maintaining a mutual respect. He’s never been so chatty! He looks forward to his weekly lesson and it sets us all up for a good weekend.
While he’s got no intention of riding as a sport, he sees this as his hobby and it’s most definitely had a positive impact on his mental health and well-being. He also loves the alpacas and goats, building agility courses for them and feeding them.
We’d highly recommend Freedom equine centre to others. The animals are approachable and friendly and we’re always made to feel welcome!"
